PIXNIT
 
PIXNIT’s street art combines graffiti with a distinctive stenciling technique and is an intervention into public and private space; guerrilla ‘art fare’ designed to simultaneously beautify and to address the uses and misuses of our urban environment.

The name PIXNIT is based on the Latin word pinxit, often included in the signature of paintings from the 1800’s, meaning she/he painted this work.  
 
By combining the history of the decorative arts, architectural ornament, ironwork and wallpaper, PIXNIT hand-draws and cuts stencils she calls “Spores”.
 
Reproductive mechanisms adapted for dispersal in unfavorable conditions.  Drawn with a knife, a template is created that is used repeatedly by the artist and others to create mass-produced public paintings.
